IPF Pays Condolence Visit To Chief Barrister Smooth, For The Demise  Of His Band Menbers.

Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF) on Monday paid a condolence visit to Chief Barrister Smooth over death of six band members in Lokoja- Abuja road on their way for entertainment last month.
The Ijaw Publishers Forum, IPF, a professional body of Ijaws in the media profession, have sympathised with renowned Ijaw musician, Chief Barrister Smooth, during a condolence at Effurun, Delta State, over death of six band members in fatal accident recently.

Speaking on behalf of the  body, Comrade Ozobo, Ag, chairman of the organization, said that the tragedy that befell the highlife maestro is one that touched every Ijaw sons and daughters in Niger Delta, noting that there is not anyone who weren’t shocked by the tragic incident.

Acting chairman of the group, Comrade Ozobo Austin who is the publisher of Congress Newspaper, said Barrister Smooth musical organization has promoted the Ijaw and Niger Delta struggle in no small way  That Barrister Smooth and the Ijaw media professionals are doing the same artistic job of Ijaw upliftment in different ways. He prayed to God to give the courage  to the families of the departed ones to bear the loss with fortitude to move ahead.

In his response, Barrister Smooth, otherwise the ”Paddle of Niger Delta” expressed joy for the visit of the Ijaw professional media practitioners who came to sympathize with him in times of grief. He prayed for them for God’s protection and urged them to always write in safety by identifying fake news from factual news to avoid litigation.


Other members of the group, include acting secretary, Comrade Tare Magbei (publisher of Daily Report Nigeria). Mr. Abai Francis (PENGlobal), Mr. Onyinbi Onduku (Niger Delta Mirror), Mr. Mingo Friday (EgbemaVoice).

Others are Comr. Anthony Demebide (Ultimate Report Nigeria), Comr. Kagbala (Focal Point Report), and Comr. Ekpegha Tamaraupreye (South South Daily).

He however charged the Born Singer to be strong and that he should cry no more as the Ijaw Nation including the IPF is solidly behind him in this trying time, particularly as the media had been playing its part by live streaming and publishing the events and visits as part of their contributions.

The IPF acting chairman also hailed the Paddle of Niger Delta for the roles he played in changing the narratives of the Niger Delta region through his songs which are sources of inspiration.

It would be recalled that six band members of the Ijaw highlife musician including the upcoming Queen of Highlife in the Niger Delta, Ikesima Brown, died in a fatal car accident along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway on Sunday (June 11, 2023).
