Okoloba fishermen ambushed, three injured, two missing

Fresh violence has broken out in the creeks of River Forcados, Bomadi local government area, Delta State, as armed youths from Okuama community allegedly attacked Okoloba fishermen, leaving three injured and two missing.

According to a statement by Okoloba community chairman, Mr. Clement Koki, the incident occurred last night around 8:pm when Okuama youths suddenly appeared on a tricycle and opened fire on the fishermen. The victims sustained various degrees of bullet wounds and were treated in the community due to the unsafe security situation on the waterways.

Koki appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to intervene and restore peace to the area, stating that the community had reported the incident to security agencies and is seeking the governor’s assistance to prevent further attacks.

This latest incident has heightened tensions in the region, with the Okoloba community calling for urgent intervention to prevent further violence.
