Tompolo Appeal To Nigerians To Shelve Nationwide Protest.

The Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), has urged Nigerians to cancel the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10, 2024. He believes that President Tinubu is working hard to address the economic hardship and that the protest's timing is inimical to the nation's interest.

Tompolo, also the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation, acknowledged the citizens' right to protest but emphasised that the current economic challenges did not start with the Tinubu administration. He highlighted the administration's efforts to revamp the economy and address security concerns.

Tompolo warned that security reports indicate the protest might be hijacked by individuals with ulterior motives, causing more harm than good. He joined other patriotic Nigerians in appealing to the protesters to engage with the government to find lasting solutions to the country's problems.

He noted that the threat of protest has already achieved its aim, as President Tinubu had acknowledged the voice of prospective protesters. Tompolo's appeal follows similar concerns expressed by the National Security Adviser, governors, and top traditional rulers.
