Urban Ijaw communities in warri kick against planned Nationwide protest.

By South South Daily

The supporters of President Bola Tinubu of the Urban ljaw Communities in warri, Delta State, yesterday moved against the hunger protestors in order to avoid ljaw areas for today planned nationwide demonstration.

The group, which is made up of men, women, and young people, met at the well-known Chief. Tunde Smooth playground, which is located across from the barracks junction in NPA Warri, to voice their disapproval of those attempting to incite unrest nationwide under the guise of the EndBadGovernment protest. They emphasize that the people of Delta State do not endorse the politically motivated planned demonstration.

Following a planned nationwide protest against the current administration led by president Bola Tinubu, which is allegedly being sponsored by some failed political actors of the opposition parties in an attempt to overthrow the government, the Warri Urban Ijaw Communities Chairmen Forum in Delta State has issued a strong warning to potential protestors to stay away from their territories in Warri. The forum emphasizes that the Warri people value peace and do not want anything to disturb the peace that currently exists in their territory.

The Chairman of the Chairmen forum, Mr. Collins Kemefa, and the forum’s spokesperson, Mr. Adams Fullpower, signed a statement on behalf of the nine ljaw autonomous communities following an emergency meeting on Tuesday in Warri. The statement expressed the communities’ strong opposition to the planned protest against President Bola Tinubu’s administration on August 1st and raised concerns about the protest’s potential hidden agenda.

The forum went on to point out that no such demonstrations occurred under the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, raising the possibility that the current organizers may be hiding something.

However, they urged the youth of Nigeria and the people at large to be calm with Mr.President in order to allow him to tackle the challenges facing the country one at a time. They underlined that significant change is frequently fraught with challenges and pointed out that the President’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy was difficult but essential in order to address the country’s faltering economy as quickly as possible.

“As people from the Warri Urban Ijaw communities in Delta State, we have faith in Mr. President due to the capable individuals around him, especially High Chief Dennis Otuaro, Ph.D, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, the current managing Director/CEO of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of Niger Delta affairs as well as the Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited would put in their best to support President Bola Tinubu to gradually address the contending issues facing the country.”

“We strongly believe in the leadership and the steps being taken by Mr President to improve the situation in the country. Therefore, we as a good citizen of the country is to pray and support the government to serve us better and not to be used by selfish politicians against the current administration.”

Nigerian youth, particularly those living in the oil-rich Niger Delta, have been advised by the Ijaw Warri urban communities to maintain composure and refrain from doing any actions that would spark more turmoil in their nation.

The statement also emphasized the need for unity and patience at this time of transition, and they urged Nigerians to support government efforts to effect positive change.
