Briggs has been a vocal advocate for the rights of the Ijaw people and has worked tirelessly to promote environmental justice, human rights, and sustainable development in the region.
Recently, Briggs spoke at the 2024 Maiden Ijaw Media Conference, which was organized by the Ijaw Publishers Forum (IPF), led by Comrade Austin Ozobo, the event was themed "Advancing The Quest for Economic, Environmental and Political Justice.
Briggs highlighted the mismanagement of the Niger Delta's 13%% derivation funds, NDDC, and other agencies meant for the development of Ijaw communities.
She advocated for the Niger Delta people to form a formidable political party to wrestle power at the center in the 2027 general elections.

She pointed out that the oil money used to sponsor other political parties, as well as Nigeria's annual budget, comes from Ijaw land, and therefore can be channeled to support their own political party.
Her speech was part of the maiden Ijaw Media Conference and annual dialogue, which aimed to discuss challenges and provide solutions for Ijaw nation development.
Also a comedy segment featuring Mr. Right Eyerin and MC Akpolokpolo, among others, which added excitement and entertainment to the program.
The event featured the prestigious Awards of Excellence, honoring remarkable Ijaw sons and daughters who have made lasting impacts in their respective fields and contributed significantly to the Ijaw nation's progress.
Among them are, Mama Annkio Briggs, Asu Beks, William Zideke Bozimo , Comrade Morris Alagoa, Owei Lakemefa, Ernest lkoli of blessed memory, Comrade Joseph Evah and many others.
