Comrade Onaidigha Shocks Ijaw nation, ___ Egbema Agog With Grief

The tragic passing of Comrade Onaidigha Destiny Pereware Esq., a vibrant and dedicated youth leader, has plunged the Egbema Kingdom and the wider Niger Delta community into deep mourning and despair. His untimely demise on May 1, 2025, in Benin City, Edo State, following a brief illness, has left a void that is difficult to fill.

Comrade Mingo Meshach Saya Ogumaka, a prominent youth leader of Egbema Kingdom, has expressed profound grief over the loss, describing it as a catastrophic blow to the kingdom's hopes and aspirations. He lamented the kingdom's state of sorrow, with tears flowing unceasingly as condolence messages flood in from brothers, sisters, friends, and comrades across the Ijaw nation. The pain is palpable, echoing through every corner of the Egbema communities, as they grapple with the loss of a leader who carried the aspirations of the youth on his shoulders.

Comrade Onaidigha was not just a leader; he was a symbol of hope, courage, and dedication. As a Niger Delta Youth Leader and a Second Parliament Member of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, legal adviser of Ajakurama development initiative, he was known for his relentless commitment to the betterment of the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta. His selfless service and passion for justice and development earned him respect and admiration from all who knew him. His untimely departure, under circumstances that remain unclear, has raised questions and left many in the community seeking solace and answers.

Mingo, overwhelmed with sorrow, drew parallels between Onaidigha's demise and the tragic death of Late Capt. Samson Funpuwei, also known as Yanyanbo, the first Defense Minister of the IYC Worldwide and a founding father of the council. Late Yanyanbo was a towering figure in the fight for Ijaw rights and justice, and his sudden death in Edo State left the kingdom in a similar state of shock and devastation. The eerie similarity of their passing has intensified the grief, reviving painful memories of Yanyanbo’s sacrifice and the loss of another promising leader.

For day, Mingo has been in tears, mourning the loss of Onaidigha, a young man whose potential and promise were tragically cut short. He lamented the kingdom's repeated struggles with the loss of its brightest stars, leaders who stood as beacons of hope for the community. He noted that Onaidigha's contributions, courage, and dedication to the Ijaw cause would not be forgotten, even as the pain of his absence reverberates through the hearts of his people.

The kingdom remains in a state of profound mourning, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss. The outpouring of condolences and expressions of sorrow from comrades and well-wishers reflect the depth of Onaidigha's impact on the lives of those he served. His sacrifice, like that of those before him, is a poignant reminder of the price often paid by those who dare to lead with integrity and vision in the face of adversity.

In this time of deep sorrow, Mingo and the people of Egbema call on the community to honor Onaidigha’s memory by remaining united, resilient, and committed to the cause he championed. They believe that only by continuing his work and upholding his ideals can his legacy be preserved and his sacrifices truly honored.

As tears flow and hearts ache, the people of Egbema Kingdom pray for strength and comfort, trusting that God, who knows all things, will bring peace to the family, friends, and comrades of Comrade Onaidigha Destiny Pereware Esq. His life, though tragically cut short, remains an inspiration to all who strive for justice, peace, and progress in the Niger Delta and beyond.
